Firefox 3.5.5 problem

According to this page I don't seem to be alone in dealing with the problem. It started after I installed the latest update on Nov. 5.2009. Anybody else, here? Any word on if they're working on it?

I've had some issues with FF, like it using 100% of the cpu, but nothing like what's described in those posts. I just keep task manager running all the time and kill FF from there when it happens. I normally have about eight tabs open and only have a problem once a week or so.

I can't set FF as my default browser because it won't open any windows after it's done so once. I'm trying to get accustomed to Google Chrome as my default browser.

FF has been going flaky on me recently and also on my friend Sheri. It takes AGES to load and then crashes unexpectedly . Today it updated itself and I now have version 3.5.5 so I'll see if that improves its handling qualities.

Google Chrome is my default browser, but I also have IE8 - plus Opera and Safari (although I don't use them all that much).

I may drop mine, too, Joel, until they send out another update. Whenever something gets THIS flakey, they (whoever) usually won't admit there's a problem until AFTER they fix it. So I don't expect much info to come out from them.

Silly me After working with the good folks at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/ I remembered that at about the same time, I had installed an update to the Zone Alarm Security Suite which automatically added a ZA toolbar to Firefox, Uninstalling that fixed the problem. Moral of the story, install and verify only one update at a time

I went to the site and others are having the same problem as I am such as getting "server not found". The wierd thing is I did a complete re-install of XP and don't have Firefox downloaded and I still get "server not found".

I posted a reply in your other thread Hacksaw, I don't think that Firefox is the cause of your troubles based on the information from that thread.

No problems with FF in Vista although I don't use ZA any more I use AVAST (also free)
